The Social Season
From Marlow in June to Wargrave in early August, the River Thames offers regattas galore. They’re the place to be seen, fabulous social occasions and great opportunities to admire the efforts of the oarsmen. The Premier event is the Henley Royal Regatta, which plays host to both local and international oarsmen and thousands of spectators for five days in June.
Staged on the middle Saturday in July, the splendid Goring and Streatley Regatta is no less enjoyable. Aside from the excellent rowing, there is a funfair, live entertainment and various country stalls and all within walking distance of the Swan at Streatley.
