Following the Fairways

Within a ten mile radius of the hotel there are more than 20 golf clubs; parkland, heathland, slightly undulating and downright hilly, the Thames Valley has both long established and superb new courses to delight everyone.

Right on our doorstep is the very friendly Goring and Streatley Golf Club. Sitting proudly on top of a hill this 6,355 yard, 18 hole course is an absolute gem, with fabulous views across to Oxfordshire, the Ridgeway and the Chilterns. There’s an abundance of wildlife, including spectacular Red Kites that can often be seen circling overhead.

Other local golfing treats include Huntercombe, Calcot Park, Reading (Emmer Green) and Henley-on-Thames. For the golf aficionado, at over 7,000 yards long, Caversham Heath is an excellent modern new course which is built to USGA (United States Golf Association) specifications and is well worth a visit.
