Basildon Park

Set in lovely parkland and built in 1776-83 by John Carr, this magnificent Palladian Mansion is a monument to the vast wealth that its original owner, Francis Sykes, amassed in colonial India. Used as the setting for the filming of the blockbuster Pride and Prejudice, which gained 4 Oscar nominations, 6 BAFTA nominations and was a winner of a Golden Globe. Basildon Park has a close affiliation to the Swan at Streatley, indeed, Keira Knightley and Donald Sutherland chose the Swan at Streatley as their home from home during filming.

Basildon Park is hosting an exhibition in tribute to the movie Pride and Prejudice which will include a number of the costumes used for filming, you may spot some of the staff at the house who appeared as extras in the film.
